Today is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), the world day to promote community awareness and understanding of people with disability.
As a Certification Assessment Body (CAB) focused on auditing within the human services and disability sector, Quantum holds a unique role to amplify the voices of people with disability.
Since beginning Quantum in 2018, Managing Director Sharon Steele has many examples of the value of hearing directly from people with disability to verify information during an audit.
”It may sound obvious to check in with the end user of a service but if the Participant feels they don’t have a voice or isn’t being heard by a service, then this may hint at wider issues, potentially related to safety, decision making and choice.”
“In our work auditing NDIS Providers, Quantum auditors are skilled and empathetic listeners who are relied on to share de-identified information from Participants with Providers directly and also report to the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission. The Commission places weight on the voice of the Participant and emphasis on the need to hear from Participants in the report writing.”
“Best practice examples of change to support as a direct result of feedback and input by people with disability and their advocates, is a positive and necessary part of the continuous improvement process.”
The theme of IDPwD 2024 is Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities from an inclusive and sustainable future.
Quantum provides certification audit service across Australia to a range of non-government organisation (NGOs), Not-For-Profit, Aboriginal Controlled Organisation (ACO and charitable organisations.
Quantum provides a person centered and ethical approach to auditing and engages auditors with sector experience, some of whom have a lived experience of disability.
As Geelong’s only Joint Accredited System of Australia and New Zealand (JASANZ) accredited Certification Assessment Body (CAB) and one of twenty NDIS Approved quality Auditors (AQA).
