Disability and Human Services Audits

Quantum has been auditing disability and human services organisations since 2015. We are known for our high standards, expertise, and knowledge of the sector.

All Quantum auditors have completed required industry training and diversity and inclusion training.

Our JASANZ accreditation for NDIS, NSDS and ISO 9001 enables us to conduct integrated audits for organisations with multiple audit and assessment requirements. Consumer Participation in Audits

The human services and disability standards we audit, require consumer involvement in the audit process. Consumer feedback is an essential part of the audit process and is an important source of evidence to assess conformity to audited standards.

A consumer is a person receiving service and support from a service provider. Other terms used to describe a consumer include client, NDIS participant, service user, or person with disability. Individual consumer participation in audits is voluntary.

Service providers must inform consumers about any upcoming audit and their right to participate in the following ways:

Participation in opening and closing meetings
Audit interviews – individual or in a group
Casual and incidental engagement with the audit team
Survey
File review

Providers must also ensure consumers are informed of their choice to use an independent support person or advocate to help them participate in the audit. Additionally, if a consumer chooses to be part of the audit process, Providers must make arrangements to ensure effective communication eg. involvement of an AUSLAN/interpreter as required.

Consent

Obtaining the consumer’s consent and agreement to participate in the audit is required.

The consumer or their representative should give their consent in writing, but verbal consent is also acceptable. Our auditors always check that consent has been given before conducting interviews and reviewing consumer files.

An independent advocate may be needed to determine the person’s capacity to provide consent and support an appropriate level of involvement where required. If written consent is not obtained, the audit team will record the reason for this and provide evidence that consent was sought and obtained through verbal agreements and active participation.

Our person-centred auditing approach is sensitive to each person’s needs in relation to their disability, preferred communication method, privacy and dignity, right to engage in the audit actively, and right to change their mind and opt-out.
