NDIS Audits

The audit cost and duration depend on several factors, including:

• Type of audit: verification or certification
• The modules to be audited and the complexity of the supports provided
• NDIS participants: total number of participants and number of participants receiving supports within high risk modules
• The number of workers providing services to participants
• Geographic coverage of the services provided

Verification and certification audits are conducted in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Approved Quality Auditors Scheme) Guidelines.

Verification audits are offsite desktop evaluations conducted by our experienced and trained auditors to assess conformity to the Verification Practice Standards:

• Human Resource Management
• Incident Management
• Complaints Management
• Risk Management

Quantum conducts certification audits of the following modules of the NDIS Practice Standards:

• Core Module – Rights and Responsibilities, Governance and Operational Management, Provision of Supports and Support Provision Environment
• Module 1 – High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
• Module 2 – Specialist Behaviour Support
• Module 2A – Implementing Behaviour Support Plans
• Module 3 – Early Childhood Supports
• Module 4 – Specialised Support Coordination
• Module 5 – Specialist Disability Accommodation

The Stage 1 certification audit is a desktop audit usually conducted off-site that involves a review of your self-assessment responses, policies, procedures and forms relevant to the Modules being audited.

The stage 2 certification audit is conducted on-site unless the conditions for a remote audit are met.

The purpose of the stage 2 audit is to evaluate service delivery to NDIS participants and to assess the effectiveness and implementation of the NDIS provider’s systems and processes in meeting all relevant modules or parts of the NDIS Practice Standards. The audit team reviews records, reviews participant files, interviews key personnel, staff and NDIS participants or their representatives.

Provisional certification audits are conducted for newly registered providers with no funded participants.  These audits are a combined stage 1 and stage 2 certification audit, and they are conducted to assess the provider's readiness to deliver support to NDIS participants. A further stage 2 service delivery audit is required within three months of the commencement of service delivery.
