We often see providers new to the NDIS registration process purchasing documentation as a starting point, a quick fix, or just to “pass the audit.”
While well-intentioned, this can lead to unnecessary administrative burdens and costs for purchased systems that are not customised or proportionate to the provider’s business needs and are not understood.
More documentation doesn’t always lead to better outcomes for participants or ensure compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards.
Policies and procedures should be clear, accessible, and actually used by your team to guide best practice, not just sit on a shelf to tick a compliance box.
As an NDIS Approved Quality Auditor (AQA), we don’t consult or prepare providers for audits. Our role is to remain impartial and provide feedback on how providers’ systems support quality outcomes for NDIS participants and comply with the NDIS Practice Standards.
From our perspective, a good audit outcome includes:
- Concise, well-understood documentation that staff can speak to in interviews.
- Feedback from service users is recorded and integrated into a system, which contributes to continuous improvement.
- Key personnel who understand the NDIS Practice Standards relevant to their role.
A word to the wise: don’t outsource your responsibilities during the audit preparation process.
At Quantum, we’re proud to deliver ethical, client-centred audit services you can trust.
