NDIS Audits

In order to provide a quote, we need to confirm if a verification or certification audit is required. This information is noted on the Initial scope of audit document provided to you by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Audit cost and duration is determined by the following factors:

• Type of audit – verification or certification
• Modules to be audited and complexity of supports provided
• NDIS participants – disability type, demographics, diversity factors, number of participants
• Number of workers providing services to participants
• Geographic coverage of services provided

Verification and certification audits are conducted in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Approved Quality Auditors Scheme) Guidelines 2018.

Verification audits

Verification audits are offsite desktop audits and are conducted by experienced and trained auditors.  Verification audits are conducted against the Verification Practice Standards:

• Human Resource Management
• Incident Management
• Complaints Management
• Risk Management

Certification audits

Certification audits are conducted of the following modules:

• Core Module – Rights and Responsibilities, Governance and Operational Management, Provision of Supports and Support Provision Environment
• Module 1 – High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
• Module 2 – Specialist Behaviour Support
• Module 2A – Implementing Behaviour Support Plans
• Module 3 – Early Childhood Supports
• Module 4 – Specialised Support Coordination
• Module 5 – Specialist Disability Accommodation

Certification audits require a Stage 1 and Stage 2 audit. The Stage 1 audit can be conducted on-site or remotely. The Stage 2 audit must be conducted onsite.

Provisional certification audits are conducted for newly registered providers with no funded participants.  These audits are conducted to assess the provider's readiness to deliver supports to NDIS participants.

The Stage 1 certification audit verifies various information submitted by the provider to the NDIS Commission as part of their registration and includes self-assessment responses, policies, procedures and forms relevant to the Modules being audited.

The Stage 2 certification audit is conducted on-site. The purpose of the stage 2 audit is to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of the NDIS provider’s systems and processes in meeting all relevant modules or parts of the NDIS Practice Standards.  The stage 2 audit includes review of documentation, interviews with key personnel and staff, interviews with NDIS participants and participant file review.

Audit personnel engaged by Quantum have successfully completed the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission training. You can be assured that our auditors are screened for suitability and they have undergone probity checks which include reference checks, National Police Record Check, Working with Children Check or Vulnerable Person Check.

Our auditors undergo routine assessment and performance review and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain their competence. All Quantum auditors have worked in the disability and human services sector.

Our auditors are assessed for competence and knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and registration groups. They are matched to the NDIS provider to ensure the audit team has the right competence and knowledge to audit your service.
